The Official Newsletter of the INSPPIRE Study

Updated: Mar 8

The INSPPIRE-2 project is the first and largest study to describe pediatric acute recurrent (ARP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP). INSPPIRE -2 is part of the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC). The CPDPC was formed to create a well-characterized cohort of both adult and pediatric pancreatitis patients and to collect bio-specimens.

INSPPIRE-2 is enrolling children less than 18 years of age at over 20 sites in the US and 4 international sites. The study collects one-time specimens and data every year to determine the course of pediatric CP and to identify risk factors and genetic modifiers for its onset and sequelae. From this data, our goal is to develop approaches to improve clinical outcomes and quality of life for children with ARP and CP and their families.

Other studies are being conducted to study treatment and diagnosis options. Children enrolled in the INSPPIRE-2 study may be eligible to participate in these studies. Information about the studies is included in the newsletter.

The official triannual newsletter of the INSPPIRE-2 study provides updates on the progress of the study, study results, and education about pancreatitis and treatment options.
